|This immensely complicated project entailed opening up barns, creating open living spaces, developing a pool, spa, terraces all while maintaining the rustic nature and habit of this old farm which once belonged to Frederick Douglas. The many outbuildings contribute to the overall charm of the 300 acre farm giving it a timeless appeal. Plantings are tailored to define the structure of the sunny, open pool area. The spa and main house look out to the many bird sanctuaries of this peaceful locale. New window openings in the barn display picturesque views of the Southeast Creek off the Chestertown River.
